How a pathway is built

1. 01Country / regionWhere the pathway sits. West African colleges sit on a region, not one country.
2. 02Regulator / college / boardThe organisation that sets or recognises the rules. MDCN is not NPMCN. GMC is not a College.
3. 03Professional pathwayThe route you are actually on: training, registration, specialist recognition, appraisal or a working portfolio.
4. 04Pathway purposeWhy this pathway exists: internship, foundation, specialty training, specialist registration or practice-ready assessment. Not interchangeable.
5. 05SpecialtyThe main field of practice or faculty.
6. 06SubspecialtyAn optional recognised area inside the specialty. Skip if you practise the specialty generally.
7. 07Training / career levelThe stage you are in now. It records context. It is not an eligibility decision.
8. 08Curriculum versionThe named curriculum and the version last checked. Confirm the live official source.
9. 09DomainA broad area of professional work, such as patient management or communication.
10. 10CapabilitySomething you should be able to do in that domain.
11. 11Sub-capability / descriptorThe finer description of what attainment looks like.
12. 12Expected levelThe developmental standard for this stage — not a pass mark.
13. 13Supervision / autonomyHow much supervision this work needed. Use the College scale where one exists. Elaryvo bands are only a fallback.
14. 14Acceptable evidence typesThe kinds of record that can support the capability: observation, case discussion, log, teaching, audit and so on.
15. 15Actual user evidenceThe doctor’s record. Evidence belongs to the doctor. Requirements belong to the pathway.
