Watching the encounter is not the same as discussing the thinking.
The assessor watches a clinical encounter. It answers: how did the doctor actually perform?
Typical use: taking a history, examining a person, leading a review, managing an encounter, communicating with a family.
Elaryvo uses its own Mini-CEX template. It is not a college or GMC form. If your hospital uses another name, choose Generic / Other and keep the local title.
The assessor discusses a case with you. It answers: how did the doctor think, reason and make decisions?
The assessor may not have watched the original encounter. That makes CBD useful for reasoning, judgement and risk — not as a stand-in for Mini-CEX.
Do not treat these as interchangeable. They demonstrate different things. Requirements vary by country, specialty and training body.
